Share your wire internet connection to Wi-Fi devices
(mac only)
If you want to connect your mobile devices to the internet ‘wirelessly’ but don’t have any Wi-Fi connections, you can still doing it under Mac. Follow the guide after the break.
Step 1. It works even you do not have any wireless router, connect your Mac to internet with wire connection.(ie. LAN)
Step 2. Open your Wi-Fi first, don’t connect to any spots.
Step 3. Go into ‘System Preferences’, choose ‘Sharing’. Choose ‘Internet’ tab, than choose to share your connection from Ethernet than check ‘Airport’ below.
Step 4. Click in the ‘AirPort Options’, choose to whether enable the encryption or not.
Step 5. Press Start after you closed the airport options. The Wi-Fi icon should be turned like this:

That’s it. Your Mac is now as a wireless router. Everyone can connect to the internet wirelessly through your Mac.

A guide should not start half way. it needs to list all the steps from start to finish and this one although a good tip is not complete until it shows how to get to that 1st screen ” sharing”/
