Update [3 December 2008]: The steps work again!
Update [22 November 2008]: Apparently, Apple has closed this “hole” to create the new and free iTunes account. Sorry to say that as from today, it does not work anymore.
Some readers seems got no luck to create a free iTunes account using the method I posted in 2007. I promised the method still works during our test under iTunes 8.0.1. Anyway, I found another way for you guys to try. It uses the trick through App Store. No need to enter credit card. It has also been tested under iTunes 8.0.1.
Let’s take a look after the break. The steps are even simpler and takes less time.
Step 1. Choose the Store. Then find some freeware from the App Store. Click “Get App”.
Step 2. It will ask you to create a new account. Click “Create a new Account”.
Step 3. Enter the required information. Click “Continue”.
Step 4. See, you will be able to choose “None” as payment method. Enter the mailing address now. Again we will show you it is tested in iTunes 8.0.1. Notice this screenshot is not the same one in the old method to show you I have tested this method.
Step 5. You may require to verify your email. Just check your email account. Enjoy your free iTunes account.
I have tested it in United States, United Kingdom and Hong Kong store. I am pretty sure it will work in other country store. Leave your message and try that now.
Note you cannot purchase anything in the store that is not your current location. For instance, you can’t purchase anything from US store if you don’t have the US credit card.

When I change country to US and try to create an account the “None” option isn’t available
I’ve had the same problem trying to create an account with the UK store. I complete all the steps but I never receive the confirmation email… tried it several tried with different email addresses…

You cannot change country to US. You must create a new account to follow this guide.

it finally worked with the original account provided, actually. it just took MANY hours for the email to arrive.

Just wanted to let you know I just tried this and it worked like a charm. It took me a while to verify, but after a couple of tries it worked. Thanks! BTW my email came immediately.

i didnt fill it with real information and it say i got to confirm the mesage they will send to my email, but they havent send any mesage to my email…it works any way??

As long as you have filled in the real email. it works.
use real email so u can get the verification email and link. worked for me today

SO. I did everything and it sent me a verification e-mail thing, then i went to log in and it told me my password was wrong, so then i clicked forgot password and it said my e-mail wasnt an apple ID.. Wtf man? Im so pissed. Ive tried this like 4 effing times and i tried the other way too. What the Hell, why doesnt it work?

It could be if your email account have problems. Have you tried to register the account with another email?

never mind, it came through, I made the account… For those who did not receive validation email immediately… give it 24 hours, it will most probably be there!

It worked till I had to receive that confirmation mail.
The mail never made it, never saw one, 24 hours later now.

the guide does not require you to get the redeem code. You just need to download a free app and create the account.

Hello there, Tried many times with the Uk store as I’m local but there isn’t a NONE icon to click I’ve tried i-tunes 8.2(23) and 8.0(35) what other alternatives you’d suggest.

Just select argentina as your country..u will get an option none..use some fake postal code of argentina in description. u will now get ur own itunes account
