First hands on: New iPad SDK reveals more about the new toy

iPad SDK is now available to download. Since we need to wait until March to get the iPad, the way to understand how this new toy works can be done with the simulator. The iPad SDK features OS 3.2. It cannot be run in iPhone and iPod Touch.

The simulator shows the contacts and settings only. As you can see iPad really has a really big screen. The address book design is really nice with list on the left and details on the right. When users click different items, a menu may pop up. The keyboard keys are huge and easy to switch to different layout. Click the following gallery for more.

There are only rare sites that would bring you the iPad live video coverage. Most of them are using text and photos because the traffic could be managed. You will still need to wait before ordering iPad

Apple has already put up the web page for iPad. Apparently, you will still need to wait until March before getting the iPad. The website said Wi-Fi models shipping in late March and 3G models shipping in April. If you want, you can register to get the notification once it is available for oder.

SDK 3.2 beta is here with iPad simulator for building apps for the iPad

Although the existing App Store apps can be run on iPad, developers can make some tweaks for building a better app for the larger screen size. Apple iPhone SDK 3.2 beta is up and developers can download the new SDK at here. It will come with the iPad simulator. Let’s expect some innovative apps for big screen that fits the new iToy.

iPad has keyboard accessory and able to run the special version of iWork

iPad is only 1.5 pounds and easy to bring it on the go. Apple has designed a special version iWork that could work on iPad. It would be great for those people who don’t want to bring the heavy MacBook. The function is close to the desktop version and you can easily connect the iPad with projector with the connector. Pages, Numbers, Keynote are all available. You may also hook up the iPad keyboard accessory for faster typing experience.

Wi-Fi and 3G version: iPad starts at $499 for 16GB and no SIM lock

Apple Tablet iPad is officially announced. It’s like the huge iPod Touch/iPhone. You will agree with that even more since iPad do have Wi-Fi and 3G version. Take a look of the price chart above. The 16GB Wi-Fi version starts at $499 and it seems affordable. If you want to go online everywhere, add $130 to choose the $629 16Gb Wi-Fi+3G version. The 3G will be offered by the AT&T. You will need to pay $15 for 250MB data or $30 for the unlimited data. That’s cool but I am start concerning the poor coverage of AT&T 3G…

iPad has the iBooks app that works like Kindle but with colors

iPad is the competitor of Amazon Kindle? I don’t know. But, iPad has an iBooks app that allows users to buy books and more easily. You can navigate and choose the publishers you are interested. It works similar to the App Store. The books and content will be downloaded automatically. iBooks has a very nice interface for you to choose different books, too.

Apple A4 processor and running App Store apps: iPad now become official

Apple fans, the Apple tablet is real and official. Steve Jobs came on the stage at the beginning of the event. He has introduced the iPad, the Apple tablet that everyone has been waiting for. It has accelerometer and multi-touch support. That’s why it is like the enlarged iPod Touch. It runs App Store apps and games. That means developers are happy that they don’t need to make apps with special version for iPad.

It looks amazing when you can play those 3D games like Need for Speed on the 9.7″ IPS display. It is 0.5″ thin and weights 1.5 pounds. It has 16GB-64GB flash storage for us to choose from. The interesting thing is that iPad uses Apple’s 1GHz A4 chip. It can be used for 10 hours and over a month of standby.
