Viacom sued YouTube because their content is viewed on YouTube without its consent. The court had ordered YouTube to hand over all the users data to Viacom. It has been a huge concern of privacy. But, fortunately, Viacom agreed to have the data that won’t be able to identify users. The data will be masked. As said in the YouTube blog,
“We are pleased to report that Viacom, MTV and other litigants have backed off their original demand for all users’ viewing histories and we will not be providing that information,”
At least we are feeling better now when we watch YouTube.
