Recently my friends on Facebook love to play a new app called “Fan Check”. It helps to show how many friends you have. You can also create a RSS feed to post it on the Facebook page. Different sources warned users not to use the Fan Check app unless they want their account to become vulnerable.
McAfee and Symantec didn’t report the problem, yet. But, the source said,
Fan Check application is down because the developer is in the process of adding new features. It invites the user to become a “fan” of the application. Some rumor said becoming the fan will cause the Fan Checker to infect the Facebook account. It will email to your friends telling them to become fans, and infect their accounts as well.
Those things are not confirmed, but we recommend you to play safe and not to use or accept Fan Check requests. If your friends send you a link, think twice before opening it.
Note Google search “facebook fan check virus” will point to the suspicious Fan Check app.
