Microsoft has plans to support its competitor. After the releases of useless Microsoft Tag Reader and Bing iPhone app, they will soon reveal the Windows Live Messenger official app. Users will be able to send and receive photos in the app. It shows the social stream in the main page. The chat interface is very similar to other iPhone IM app which is easy to follow.
There is no need to wait for the Microsoft to release this official app to chat with friends. Meebo for iPhone is an example of awesome IM apps which can login Windows Live, Yahoo!, Facebook and many popular platforms. Microsoft Windows Live Messenger for iPhone may only limited to their own platform.
