We thought Apple has improved the app approval standard. Well, may be not. iStat for iPhone/iPod Touch (US$1.99) is the software which monitors the system status of iPhone/iPod Touch. It is similar to their desktop version. One of the very useful is that iStat allows users to free memory of iPhone/iPod Touch. It is vital because after you run huge 3D game and several apps, it has used lots of memory. And those memory may not be immediately freed. Users may need to restart the iPhone/iPod Touch in order to run other apps smoothly.

Apple has requested iStat to remove the free memory feature from their app. All other similar software will have to do the same thing. It makes the app become less useful. iPhone 3GS may not have to free memory because enough memory is provided. But for iPhone 2G/3G and iPod Touch, it is essential since memory resources is extremely limited. Why Apple do such stupid things to make developers app becomes less useful? Well. Apple does not explained.
