All iPhone/iPod Touch users are dreaming to play flash video on Safari by direct clicking. It seems the dream is very far away, and Apple will not support it in the near future. But, thanks to the jailbreak, it is possible to play Flash using the Safari plugin called iMobileCinema.
In the video, you can clearly see that the Safari loads the standard YouTube page. When user click the video, it comes with a large triangle that is supposed to be Flash. User can click and play the Flash directly. It will take sometime to initialize. After all, a video player will pop up. It will be able to play the video successfully.
It looks promising to play Flash video by YouTube. But, unfortunately, the plugin only supports firmware 1.1.5 (iPod Touch) or 1.1.4 (iPhone 2G) or lower. Don’t try to install it in firmware 2.1 or otherwise iPhone will crash.
I think the technique is similar to VideoHamster (It does not work really well with 2.1), a javascript bookmark which convert the Flash video to iPhone playable format. No doubt this iMobileCinema plugin makes everything easier, but it seems it is not the real Flash plugin, what do you think?
