AT&T has confirmed to block the access of 4chan.org. The officials said they are “following the practices of their policy department.” After huge reaction of media and internet communities, AT&T users are now be able to access 4chan again. 4chan, in case you don’t know, is a popular website that allows users to post images. They can be posted anonymously. 4chan is so popular because of the community is really active. They have created the internet words like lolcats, rickrolling and chocolate rain. It’s considered as Internet subculture.
With poor internet services like AT&T, I can’t expect that much. I can’t believe AT&T is the first one to block access of certain websites without users consent. How could we know if AT&T blocks information that are against the government. Is that US internet secretly controlled by the government?
China’s internet is “protected” by Great Wall. All Chinese users cannot access the information that are sensitive or against the government. They don’t know the truth about history. I hope US internet won’t have another Great Wall like China.
