Apple prevents other manufacturers to make the adapter for the new iPod Shuffle

Apple makes a huge mistake to put the remote control on the earphones, making users impossible to use their 3rd party headphone without purchasing the adapter. Meanwhile, Apple makes another big mistake: they prevent other manufacturers to make the adapter.

Source found that a mystery chip 8A83E3 which believe to prevent unauthorized transmission of signals. Other manufacturers won’t be able to produce their own adapter, since these will be considered as “unauthorized”.

Apple always want other manufacturers to pay more money so that the product is considered as authenticated hardware. That means the selling price will be higher. Without such policy, the adapter could be much cheaper.
