(Win)How to: Use iPhone 1.1.4 with 04.04.05_G baseband
(for windows only, mac user please click here) *more pictures will be uploaded

ZiPhone is a great tool to unlock and jailbreak iPhone. If you don’t want ZiPhone “Do It All”, and you want it to jailbreak and unlock only. Perform the following step so that your unlock is reversible.
Note this guide will unlock the iPhone which can be reversed to original factory state. It is good because if anything goes wrong, you can still go back to the very original state. This is NOT IPSF style unlock .
Step 1. Restore and update the iPhone to 1.1.4 under iTunes.
Step 2. Run ZiPhone. Click “Don’t Unlock” to jailbreak and activate iPhone only. Do not click “Do it All”. The reason we don’t “Do it All” because we want the unlock to be reversible.
Step 3. When the process is completed, you will see “Installer” and “ZiPhone” logo on the springboard. Click Installer and install “BSD Subsystem” and “OpenSSH”.
Step 4. Use WinSCP to connect to iPhone. Type the IP address, “root” as username and “alpine” as password.
Step 5. Extract and upload this 1.1.4 unlock pack to iPhone’s “/usr/unlock” (Create a folder called “unlock” under “/usr”.
Step 6. Use Putty to loginto your iPhone. Type in the IP address. Then, type in “root” for username, “alpine” as password. Then, the following commands,
launchctl remove com.apple.CommCenter
cd /usr/unlock
chmod +x ./114unlock
./114unlock secpack ICE04.04.05_G.fls

Step 7. Wait for a few seconds to be completed. You may see the iPhone’s Wi-Fi disconnected suddenly. You may see Putty disconnected, also. When it is connected again, wait for a few seconds. Putty may be connected again. Restart the iPhone when you see unlocked message. Enjoy the unlocked iPhone.
Stage 2: Fix iPhone’s out of space error
Step 8. Perform the move applications step by SSH into your iPhone and type (remember to press enter after each line),
cd /
cp -pr Applications /var/mobile
mv Applications Applications.old
ln -s private/var/mobile/Applications /Applications
cd /
ls -la

Step 9. Type the following when you saw the above screen. (note the yellow highlighted line),
cd /
rm -rf Applications.old
Step 10. Restart the iPhone. Now, you can install the stuff you want using Installer. Enjoy 1.1.4 iPhone.

Thanks for good info.
However, I did “Do it all” by mistake, is this mean I void warrenty and can never reverse IPhone back to Factory Default evern if I restore to original 1.14?
2. admin replies at 5th March 2008, 2:04 am :
TaeJun Lee,
You can try whether you can reverse the unlock if you want,
http://www.winandmac.com/mobile/iphone/how-to-downgrade-113-and-make-it-work-as-iphone-again/
If you saw incorrect SIM after all, then your unlock is reversible.
And as always, try it at your own risk!

Thanks for your reply.
However, is this something ever tested or done? or you are giving me a possible way of restoring?
Also what should I do once I perform restore and end up getting “Invalid SIM” message?
Can’t I just do Recovery Mode - Firmware update of 1.14?

Hi fellows
I followed the guide but got stuck on the UNLOCK using Putty…putty showed me the “based on the Geohot’s unlock code” and then stopped…..I tried again but then my WIFI blocked and so putty couldn’t pick up the signal. My phone gave me a message “Iphone can’t make nor receive calls, Iphone need to be repaired”. So I had only one chance left and that was trying to use Ziphone again and choose option “do it all”…..and….it worked……took only a minute and my phone is working….restored my wifi-function, unlocked my sim,…..

10. Mo replies at 13th March 2008, 11:14 am :
Hi Admin,
is there anyway to use custom ringtones on 114? sendsong doesnt seem to work on that.
11. Yogi replies at 13th March 2008, 11:30 am :
Mo,
if it’s in itunes, all you have to do is convert the file to aac by right clicking, drag to the desktop, and rename extension to .m4r (ex song.m4r) instead of .m4a open the ringtone folder, and drag it back. Make sure the song is under 30 seconds, i use nero wave editor to cut tracks, but there are many programs that are free on the net. If you already have a ringtone category in itunes you should be ok, if not there is a tutoriol for everything including what i had just explained here

Hello. Looks like you are living in US and using AT&T?
15. admin replies at 23rd March 2008, 4:46 pm :
D-Line,
I suggest you to put the iPhone in DFU mode to see whether iTunes can still detect it

I have an unlocked OTB1.1.1. (I unlocked it by following a guide in this website a few months ago) Shall I just follow this guide to upgrade it to 1.1.4? Or, should I virgin my iPhone before following this guide. Thanks a lot.
2nd question. I will have a new OTB1.1.4 tomorrow for my wife. Shall I follow this guide or which guide should I follow to unlock it? Thanks a lot.
18. admin replies at 24th March 2008, 6:24 pm :
wto,
Yes. You can follow this guide. just backup stuff first. and make sure you understand hacking is dangerous and may brick your iPhone. There’s no one to be blamed if it happens.
And for OTB 1.1.4, reports are saying this guide will work. But you need to do one additional steps. That is download ZiPhone, then, choose downgrade bootloader to 3.9 under “advanced features”.
19. wto replies at 24th March 2008, 6:29 pm :
Thank you very much.
I remember that I was told not to update my unlocked iPhone thru iTune. It will brick my unlocked iPhone. But for Step 1 of this guide, I need to do so. Just quite worry. Could you help to tell in more details on how to “restore and update the iPhone to 1.1.4″? Thanks again for your help.
20. admin replies at 24th March 2008, 9:50 pm :
wto,
Before you restart the iPhone through iTunes, you must downgrade your bootloader through ZiPhone first. Then, you are safe to restore the iPhone. If you are really scared and worry about bricking iPhone, just don’t do it.
Every hacking is dangerous. Do it or not is up to you. No one should be blamed if everything goes wrong.
21. wto replies at 25th March 2008, 9:42 am :
Thanks again. Understand that I should take my own risk.
Can you share with me how to “Restore” / “Restart” my iPhone? My iPhone is OTB1.1.1. Should be old bootloader. But already unlocked. Still do not quite catch how to complete Step 1.
Sorry for so many question. For totally new OTB1.1.4 (no action taken), can start from Step 2? Am I correct?
Thanks a million.

I’m having the same problems as D-Line.
I updated the firmware to 1.1.4 and the phone itself works perfectly. I am able to call people, receive calls, text message, etc etc.
The only problem is that I am unable to connect my iPhone to iTunes. It recognizes the phone in the diagnostics and when I put my phone into DFU mode (I’m just wary about restoring the phone using iTunes because I don’t want to brick the thing).
Just wondering if D-Link found a solution or if there is one somewhere I can follow.
Thanks.

Sven,
Try to put your iPhone in recovery mode by press and hold home and power button at the same time. Hold it until it shows you a dialog. click “check” button and try to restore it.

Admin,
I there a way to use my own songs as ringtones on a 16gb jailbroken 114?
32. admin replies at 15th May 2008, 1:24 am :
Mo,
Do you know how to SSH? If you know, that is easy. Convert the file you want to m4a (using iTunes. right click and choose “convert to AAC”). Then, rename it to .m4r. (with space before .m4r) . Finally. upload it to iPhone’s /Library/Ringtones.
33. Mo replies at 15th May 2008, 9:54 am :
Admin,
thank you for ur response. i have tried it and on the ssh screen it shows the file has been uploaded but it does not appear in the phone.

34. Mo replies at 15th May 2008, 10:11 pm :
