Unlock iPhone 1.1.1 in Windows

This guide only for out of the box iPhone 1.1.1. If your iPhone has been unlocked by old anySIM 1.0.2 (or any other free unlock method for iPhone 1.0.2) or having an incorrect IMEI 004 or you are having an iPhone 1.1.2, you can try this virgin method before upgrading.

We can’t guarantee you it will work 100%. Try it at your own risk.

This guide will let you:

1. Jailbreak iPhone 1.1.1 and use and swap any SIM card other than AT&T. YouTube will be enabled, too.

2.You will be able to install 3rd party applications.
3.Enable International Support

4. Free custom ringtones

The iPhone 1.1.1 starts at the “activate iPhone screen”. If you are in iPhone 1.0.2, please upgrade to iPhone 1.1.1 first.

Note your computer and iPhone should connect to the same Wi-Fi so that IP address are on the same range.

You may see this if you are running old version of iTunes. Just ignore it. You just need Wi-Fi and WinSCP to unlock your iPhone. This guide works for iTunes 7.5.

Stage 1: Jailbreak and uploading anySIM

Step 1. Slide to make emergency call. Press “*#307#”. It will start ringing.

Step 2. Clear all the numbers by pressing “x”. Enter “0″, press “call”, than press “answer”.

Step 3. Press “Hold”, than it will ring again. Press “Decline”. It will show you the contact list.

Press Hold first. Than press decline when it rings again.

Step 4. Add a new contact. Choose to “add new URL”. Enter “prefs:”. Add one more home url, this time enter “jailbreakme.com”. Save all the informations.

Step 5. Click the “home page”, it will pop up the settings now. Connect to the Wi-Fi connections that you wish for. (same IP range with notebook computer. how to do it? Just make sure iPhone and notebook are connected with same Wi-Fi AP station.). Also, make sure it will not go to sleep mode by going into General > Auto Lock > Never.

Step 6.Press home button to go back to the “activate iPhone” screen. Slide for emergency, and press “0″ to call. Answer the call than hold the call. It will ring again. Than, press decline and you will go back to contact list.

Step 7. Select the contact we created in Step 4. This time, press the home that is “http://jailbreakme.com” to let the Safari open it. Scroll down and choose to install the AppSnapp.

Step 8. Your Safari will crash and go back to the “Activate iPhone” screen. Do not touch the iPhone or any other buttons now.

Step 9. It will restart itself. If it is not for more than 10 minutes, repeat the steps from Step 6-8. If you see a blue dot, restore your iPhone completely with 1.1.1 firmware.

Step 10. You should now get into the main home screen with Installer on the springboard. Click and choose “All packages”, install the “BSD Subsystem”, than install “OpenSSH” through the Installer.app of iPhone.

Step 11. Go back to Windows. Use WinSCP, connect to the iPhone SSH system by typing the correct iPhone’s IP. You need to type “root” as username, “alpine” as password. You can always check your iPhone’s IP by clicking Settings > Wi-Fi, click the blue arrow that you connected to.

change 192.168.1.217 to your iPhone’s IP address

Step 12. Upload the anySIM 1.1.1 to “Applications” folder. Download the AnySIM program, extract it as “AnySIM.app”, upload the AnySIM.app folder to your iPhone.Choose “Binary” for the transfer type. (We do not recommend to use iphone.unlock.no. Coz we found there are some problem.)

Step 13. Right-click “anySIM.app” and choose “properties”. You should check “anySIM.app” itself is set as 755, make sure “Set group, owner and permissions recursively” is checked. Look at the following picture for reference. Restart the iPhone. Now, run the anySIM program and start to free your iPhone.

Make sure you set your anySIM.app like this

Stage 2: Enable custom ringtones.

Step 16. Install SendSong 0.21e from Installer.app. Choose it under Multimedia and make sure you didn’t choose the old SendSong 0.9.

Install SendSong 0.21e

Step 17. Open iTunes. Import the ringtone that you want to use. Convert it to AAC file.

Step 18. Sync that AAC file to your iPhone. We recommend you to create a new playlist, e.g. iPhone ringtones, so that you will not mess up with the existing song playlist.

Step 19. Run SendSong from your iPhone. Choose the ringtone you want to use and click “Send to Ringtones”. You may need to restart before you can see the ringtone in General > Sounds.

SendSong 0.21e, choose send to ringtone.

Stage 4: Enable international support
This is pretty important if you don’t want the telephone number in US format.

Step 20. Download the pre-patched file here. Extract it

Step 21. Upload it to your iPhone’s “‘/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app” using WinSCP. Restart it. And you’re ready to go.

    teletrance,

take a look of the sentence. It is stated clearly: No guide on the internet (I mean not only on winandmac.com, but the whole internet) can help to unlock your out of the box 1.1.2 iPhone.

  2. Justine says:

Admin, just like Alan – i follow all the steps, and when safari opens with the jailbraker website i download the appsnapp program and from there nothing happens.. All I see is a small question mark on the page. I’ve done this almost 10 times now. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Justine.

  3. admin says:

    Justine,

restore your iPhone to 1.1.1. Use the restore function from iTunes.

Thanks to all those who have worked on the Iphone jailbreak. I used it to open my 1.1.2 by downgrading to 1.1.1 (3A109a) and everything went smoothly. Still I’ve a problem with the phone part, anySIM does not work. The modem firmware is 04.02.13_G. I’ve been going through the comments here but can’t pinpoint a solution. Can anyone please comment or direct me to the right spot.

  8. admin says:

    Frosty,

Out of the box iPhone 1.1.2 cannot use anySIM for unlock. Please subscribe to our RSS feed so that you can understand the latest news about iPhone unlock.

  9. Lisa says:

    Hi-

Thank you very much for the iPhone unlocking tips. I just purchased an unlocked 8GB iPhone (Serial # starting with 86750) from a Chinese cell phone company with the phone service with T-Mobile. The sales person had warned me not to upgrade iTunes and advised me to use the version 7.3. So I went ahead and downloaded 7.3 to my computer then sync to my iPhone. Big mistake, because the SIM card with T-Mobile has become invalid.

Would you know what happened, and how to fix it? The sales person will charge $150 for re-unlocking it.

Please help. I am desperate and have not enjoyed any joy of owning the iPhone since I bought it.

Thank you, and Happy New Year !!!

    Lisa

  10. Frosty says:

  15. Inder says:

Hey there…i upgraded my phone to 1.1.2 by mistake which changed my modem firmware to 04.02.13G….i downgraded it back to 1.1.1 but the modem firmware is still the same.I did the jailbreak successfully…now i tried anysim 1.1 and anysim 1.2u….nothing works to unlock it…everything goes fine and at the end anysim gives me an error saying “cannot unlock this phone . 18. Inder says:

Hey Admin, I tried Virginizing my iphone using the guide from the iPHone ultimate page. I successfully downgraded to 1.1.1 with the correct error for 1.1.1 then i put my fone in DFU mode and tried downgrading to 1.0.2 but i tunes keeps showing me the moving bar reading “waiting for iphone” and nothing happens after that. Its not letting me downgrade to1.0.2 for some reason.
    Please Help

  19. Inder says:

yea my imei is 01136… and serial no. is 83748….. if this can help you with anything to come to a conclusion to my problem.

  20. RB says:

Anybody got anymore info on a fix for anySIM on an out of the box 1.1.2?

  21. admin says:

    Inder,

for this serial, the iPhone should be out of the box 1.1.2. I am not sure why your iPhone is not 1.1.2 when it comes out of the box. If it is otb 1.1.2 iPhone, many people said it is not able to downgrade to 1.0.2

Anyway,if you see waiting for iPhone message, that is probably you are opening other program that controls iTunes or iPhone. Did you try to close iBrickr during the process?

If you did close iBrickr, you may try my iPhone 1.1.2 guide. The 1.1.2 guide in the iPhone ultimate page does not requires you to downgrade to 1.0.2. You can just start from 1.1.1

  22. Inder says:

I tried the my phone guide for 1.1.2 but anysim 1.2u gave me an error at the end…”cannot unlock this iphone” again ..O god i am so confused now…i dont know what to do next??…any other suggestions or do you think i lie in the OTB 1.1.2 crew as well…?
    thanks for your help…..

  23. Mo says:

    Admin,
i cant seem to get ibrickr 0.91 to instal my own ringtones on my i phone. i am curently using 1.1.1 uloncked with anysim and jail broken.
i works fine if i downgrade to 102 but doesnt on 111. on the screen it shows the tone as instaled on the phone but in the phone its not there.
is there a new software that i can use to add ringtones or change on my iphone that works with 111?

  24. admin says:

    Mo,

Dude. Use SendSong to customize your ringtone

  25. Sarah says:

    Hi Admin,
Was just wondering has there been any advances on the unlocking of Iphone 1.1.2?? When do you think new out of the box iphones will be able to be unlocked or will they ever? Thanks

  26. Beshte says:

I have a jailbroken, unlocked iphone on T-mobile, with the 1.0.2 firmware. From the sounds of it, I could revirginize the phone, upgrade to 1.1.1, then jailbreak and unlock it after the update? is this correct, or should I stick to 1.0.2?
    Thanks
    NN

  27. Idruk says:

    Admin:

I didn’t quite undertsnad step 13.. and my Windows doesn’t show that dialogue either (i am running Windows vista Home-pro), hence i got stuck there could you please explain it more??

  28. admin says:

    Beshte,

You can now even re-virgin 1.0.2 and than go to 1.1.2 if you want.

I think upgrading to 1.1.2 is good to iPhone. But before upgrade, you need to be prepared if something goes wrong.

  29. admin says:

    Idruk,

You should right-click the file inside WinSCP, not on Windows Explorer.

  30. Mo says:

when you transfer the file, WinSCP should asks you where to transfer. You can choose from that window.

  35. nate says:

    Admin,
I recently bought Iphone with 1.1.2 OTB, and I used Jailbreaking to downgrade it to 1.1.1 to unlock the sim. I was successful with downgrading it to 1.1.1, and downloading installer to download anysim 1.1 and BSDsubsystems. After all that I opened Anysim 1.1 and loaded it and at the end it said it couldn’t unlock the sim.

    What should i do?
