The very first iPhone AntiVirus native software

When the time Windows Mobile does not have any virus, there is already a antivirus software. iPhone also have the similar stuff right now. I thought it is fake, but according to the discussion thread in hackint0sh, it looks legit. To install, add “http://ipkg.mcafeemobile.com/” as the source in the Installer. There is a iVirusScan in “McAfee” category.

I have successfully installed and tried it. Of course, after a quickscan there is no virus in my iPhone. Sources warned this software is not official. Try it at your own risk (as always). Sources said this is really come from McAfee (the virus software developer which produce antivirus products for PCs). As iPhone is really popular, it is still necessary to have a virus scanner in the future.

Note the iPhone SDK does not allow applications to run in the background. Hence, there is a minimal possibility to have a widespread virus. For the unofficial toolchain (the jailbreak apps we are using now in iPhone 1.1.4), there is only a little amount of program that can run in the background. Just install it with caution is okay. And as I said before, this iVirusScan is not official. Be warned.

More screenshots after the break.

god know please, don’t tell me McAfee is going to develop a virus scan so it can also scam users by hitting them with viruses, and force people to buy this crap

McAfee stopped the Beta program at the moment, but I heard in another forum that the latest version is available on Emule under “McAfee iVirusScan iPhone” search.
