Restore iPhone using specific firmware
(win and mac)
EDIT: This guide will not work for iPhone 1.1.2. ONLY for iPhone 1.1.1 or lower.

Do not restore unless it’s really necessary. Make sure the iTunes did not going to download new firmware. And, make sure you does not select the new firmware 1.1.1 (File named ”) during the restoration.
Before:
Check your iPhone firmware first. You can check it by going from Settings > General > About.
You should read 1.0.2(1C28) under versions. If yes, you can continue.
If you cannot enter the phone, check it under emergency call by:
Pressing *3001#12345#* and press Call
If:
03.12.06_G is firmware 1.0.0
03.14.08_G is firmware 1.0.1 and 1.02
04.01.13_G is 1.1.1

For Mac:
1. Turn off the automatic update from iTunes > Preferences, un-tick ‘check for updates automatically’ from General tab.
2. Backup your existing iPhone firmware. For Mac, it is usually at ‘~\Library\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates’. Copy the ‘iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw’ from the folder to somewhere else as backup, we recommend you to update the iPhone now before the new firmware released.
3. Restore your iPhone by press and hold ‘option’ key, then use the mouse to click ‘restore. You should now able to choose the backup iPhone firmware file ‘iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw’ we did in step 2.
For Windows:

1. Prevent automatic update from iTunes. From the iTunes, choose ‘Edit > Preferences’, un-tick automatic update.
2. Backup your iTunes firmware from ‘C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates’. Change the part [user name] to your Windows’ user name. Copy ‘iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw’ to somewhere else as backup. You need to restore your iPhone at least once, or otherwise nothing will be in there. We also recommend you to update 1.0.2 while new firmware is not released yet.
3. Restore your iPhone by press and hold ‘Shift’ key, than click ‘restore’ to select the file we copied in Step 2.
If you are lazy to find where is the iPhone firmware file, download it by clicking here.

Kevin,
you should restore it using this guide. not just simply by clicking restore, it will make your iPhone to 1.1.1
I think we should digg this to remind all of us to restore it carefully.
12. Michael Oberg replies at 30th September 2007, 6:12 am :
Admin: Tha´ts not possible at the moment.
I can´t press the digits.
The only thing the screen shows me is a logo on the iTunes and a arrow and a usb-connection.
Maybe that can say which version I have?
13. Michael Oberg replies at 30th September 2007, 6:18 am :
Admin: I managed somehow to check the version.

sIMONE,
you can now downgrade your iPhone (You said iPod in the first sentence…) with old baseband now. The guide can be found right here:
http://code.google.com/p/iphone-elite/wiki/DowngradeBasebandWin
Do it at your own risk.

mkq786,
Are you using the new iTunes in Windows? You need to copy the iTunesMobile.dll to the iBrickr to make sure it works.
If you still cannot get it, try this modified version:

I cannot restore my iphone from version 1.1.2
I had to upgrade from 1.0.2 because My iphone gave me the Yellow tringle warning, and itunes did not let me restore to an older firmware.
I tried installing 1.1.2 to see if I could revert from here, but no sucess. (1.1.2 installed perfectly)
I keep gettin Error 1 When Itunes tries to restore to a previous version.
Any suggestion?
