Simplified ultimate guide for unlocking iPhone 1.0.2 completely (works for iTunes 7.4.2)

    (mac only)

EDIT: This guide is obsolete and no longer works.

One Guide to make it work

I know everyone is confused with the guide all over the Internet. So, here is the updated guide for all of you to get your iPhone completely worked with your own SIM. It is tested with iTunes to 7.4.2 and iPhone to 1.0.2. You will nlock SIM, SSH, adding custom ringtones, native programs and more after reading this guide. All for free.

First, this instruction will write for Mac only. I am not sure whether I will have time to write one for Windows. I will try hard to do it.

This guide does not guarantee it will work 100%. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. DO NOT RUN THE FOLLOW STEPS IF YOU HAVE ALREADY UNLOCKED USING OLD VERSIONS OR OTHER SIMILAR TOOLS.

Make sure you quit process of ‘iTunes’ and ‘iTunes helper’. You can check it using Activity Monitor.

Step 1. Make sure you updated to iPhone 1.0.2, and copy the file from ‘~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates’ . Copy the ‘iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw’ to somewhere else. Change it to ‘iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.zip’. Don’t double click the file, extract it using StuffIt Expander or anything else.

    rename the firmware to .zip

Step 2. Download iNdependence 1.2.1a. Choose ‘Activation’ first to activate the iPhone. You need to choose the folder that you extracted from Step 1. The process is automated and you don’t need to do anything. If you saw ‘can’t enter recovery mode’ or ‘ICCID’ error, just exit the program and run again.

    Activate your iPhone first

Step 3. The iPhone should now be activated. Than, from the jailbreak, choose to perform the action. Again, this process is automated.

    Jailbreak process is also automated

Step 4. Than, install SSH from the Tab. Click ‘Install SSH’, this time you need to do some work, follow the screen and it will be fine. We recommend you to ‘change password’ to enter a new password for accessing SSH server of iPhone. Type ‘root’ as account name.

    install SSH

Step 5. I have also chose to ‘customize’ and add new ringtones. It works perfectly after sending the ringtones that is m4a format. If you don’t know how to change mp3 format to m4a, click here.

Step 6. Connect your Mac and iPhone with Wi-Fi. Check your iPhone’s IP address. Than, download Fugu and start connecting by typing the detail like below. You can did it also by sharing your Mac connection to iPhone. (Guide will be provided for sharing Mac connection.)

    Fugu

Step 7. Download the new AnySIM 1.02 from here. Extract the zip file by right-clicking it, than select using BOMArchiveHelper.

Step 8. Upload the extracted file to iPhone using Fugu. Put the .app file under /Applications. Quit all program. Restart your iPhone now. (pressing Power button and slide to power off. Turn it on again)

    Upload to Application folder.

Step 9. You will notice the icon on the Springboard. Install the SIM that you wish to use. Run the program as instructed. If you got ‘locate bite error’, try this.

    Upload it to iPhone

    anySIM unlocked iPhone

Step 10. iPhone voicemail function may not be unlocked. So now, check your voicemail number. And press *5005*86*yyy# under Phone function.

where yyy stands for your voice mail phone number. If it was #123, than press *5005*86*#123#

    breaker.png

The iPhone is now fully unlocked with complete function. If you want to install other third party native applications, than move on.

Step 11. Now, it’s time to install the native iPhone programs. Download the AppTap.installer first.

Step 12. Again, run it and follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure you choose the right firmware of iPhone.

    Choose the right firmware

    nguideip08.png

Step 13. Now you will see the Installer icon on iPhone. Run it, make sure to install ‘Community Resources’ so that you get update for latest native apps. DO NOT INSTALL OpenSSH or it will cause you errors.

    Install community resources.

Horrray! Now just choose anything you want to install. iPhone should now worked completely with fun. (including YouTube and phone functions!) Sync it with iTunes and transfer the stuff to iPhone now.

      Oh. Hello.

That may mean your SSH is not properly installed. Did you tried to install the OpenSSH from the Installer.app?

      HI Guys,
before i have a question: thx!! for admin and everyone who has been helping me a bunch so far. Really appreciate it.

Just a quick question: i just did a full restore of my previously unlocked 1.0.2. and i am looking to try the baseband repair in order to upgrade to 1.1.1.

Sort of in the wrong forum here but maybe someone could answer my question: it says i need a patched lockdownd file installed. I did this earlier on my first unlock but have since restored multiple times. Is that previously exchanged lockdownd file something that´s restore resistant or do i have to copy that again?

Thx a lot for the advice,

      David

Can anyone please help me out. I accidentally upgraded to 1.1.2. To resolve, I downgraded to 1.0.2. installed iNdependence 1.3beta (I’m using a mac with Leopard on it, and iTunes 7.5), activated the phone, did the jailbreak, installed SSH/SFTP/SCP all via iNdependence.

The only thing I need to do now is to unlock. I’m trying to use the anySIM solution. I’ve got Fugu but, for the life of me, cannot seem to ftp into my iphone. I got my IP settings from the iPhone (in Settings–>Wi-Fi–>Blue arrow button). My iPhone IP is dynamically assigned by my router, so it keeps changing. But when using Fugu, and entering the iPhone ip, port 22, and / as the directory, it looks like its connecting, but just doesnt. Dont get any error message after the connection attempt.

I’ve also successfully locked on to my wi-fi network (entered the WEP key correctly), but none of my internet applications (Safari, YouTube, Maps…) works. I constantly get the “Safari can’t open the page because it can’t find the server” error message.

Can anyone please help me out. I really need to get this iPhone functional again. Would be extremely grateful for the Fugu and wi-fi connectivity advice. Thanks much.

Please read this guide is obsolete and no longer works.

And for the router problem, can’t help for you. You need to figure out how to put the correct setting of your router
