Obsolete since iPhone firmware 3.0 is here. Check the updated guide at here.

–If you have used yellowsn0w tool to software unlock the iPhone 3G, make sure you use this guide to create custom firmware through PwnagTool before update. It will help to preserve the baseband 02.28.0 which will be able to keep the software unlock works.

(for Mac only, Windows users click here)

[Works for firmware 2.2.1]

Everytime you upgrade the iPhone firmware, do you create new custom firmware and then restore it? There is no need anymore. iPhone Dev Team has created the QuickPwn which can jailbreak your iPhone 2G/3G without complete restore. Quick and Easy.

As usual, do it at your own risk. Remember to backup before you start.

After you upgrade the iPhone, do the following steps. This also works if you have just restored the iPhone completely. Although the steps is tested in iPhone 3G, it should be very similar for iPhone 2G or iPod Touch.

Download QuickPwn for Mac first. You need BitTorrent client to download it.

You may also download the latest QuickPwn 2.2.5 for Mac at winandmac.com server.

Step 1. After you have updated the iPhone, all jailbroken apps will be gone.

Step 2. Run QuickPwn. Select the type of iPhone/iPod Touch that you are using. Note when you have chose the type of iPhone/iPod Touch, the jailbreak process will start. You may not be able to stop it.

Step 3. It will find the required files automatically. (firmware, bootloader, etc.) It may ask whether you want to replace logo. Click “NO”.

Step 4. Wait until it build the firmware and jailbreak the iPhone.

Step 5. After it had successfully build the firmware and jailbreak the iPhone, QuickPwn still needs to transfer some files. Now follow the on screen instructions to power off the iPhone.

Step 6. Then it will ask you to press Home and Power button, and whatsoever. Concentrate. Follow the simple steps on the screen.

Step 7. If you have successfully followed the instructions, QuickPwn will now send the files.

Step 8. QuickPwn will modify your iPhone/iPod Touch automatically. You will see the iPhone/iPod Touch is now doing something weird. Wait until you see the home screen.

Step 9. Your iPhone is now jailbroken. Get ready to install unofficial apps from Cydia or Installer.

For those who are using unofficial carrier of iPhone 2G, you must install “BootNeuter” from Cydia. Then, choose to unlock the iPhone. It will be able to pick up the carrier signal after all.

Do I have to download the update first, and update my iphone, so my phone will get locked.. and then run quickpwn?

  4. admin says:

    vedder,

Yes. You are right. Sounds dangerous, right? So try it at your own risk.

I’ve just helped my friend to do the steps with iPhone 2G using unofficial carrier. Hence, the steps are worked for iPhone 2G, too. But, you will need to run BootNeuter after you quickpwn your iPhone.

You can install BootNeuter through Cydia.

    Hi Admin!
Many thanks for your help your trick with bootleg works very fine, you just have to tell the users that they have to desactivate in the iphone settings that he will never go to sleep and then all works fine, my phone has not worked again after upgrade to version 2.1, no carrier was my problem, I tried to bootleg on 3.9 but it didn’t work with PWnage Tool, he always told me that the tiype of file I donwloade was not the correct onem but I just found the bl39.bin, so I had a problem, with your solution to install over Cyntia the Bootleg was the rescue, all worked fine after this manipulation…great and I am very happy!!!!

    Paresh,

Sorry that I don’t really understand why you need to connect with the site?

  19. shannon says:

I am also getting unable to decode (apptapp.saurik.com)

admin – this is the source that is required to download Cydia to the iPhone if it wasn’t selected during the original jail break.

  20. admin says:

    shannon,

It could be the server temporary down. May be you will need to try that later.
