How to: Use iPhone 1.1.4 with 04.04.05_G baseband
(for mac only, windows user please click here)

iPhone 1.1.4 is already there, and if you are using 1.1.3 jailbroken and unlocked, you can upgrade using the guide here. If you are from other version and decided not to keep anything it your iPhone, you can restore and update to 1.1.4 directly. After all, follow this guide.
This guide will only applies to iPhone with bootloader 3.9. (OTB iPhone 1.1.1 or lower) For those OTB iPhone 1.1.2 or higher with bootloader 4.6, please use ZiPhone to downgrade the bootloader to 3.9.
In the following, we will restore and wipe all the stuff existing in iPhone. Hence, backup before proceed. You will be able to use iPhone firmware 1.1.4 with 04.04.05_G (latest) baseband in the end. The iPhone will be jailbroken and unlocked.
Note this guide will unlock the iPhone which can be reversed to original factory state. It is good because once everything goes wrong, you can still go back to the very original state. This is NOT IPSF style unlock used by other unlock programs available on the internet.
The importance of reversible unlock is that if everything goes wrong, you can always restore it to the original state.
I tested it under Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 and using iTunes 7.6.1.
Stage 1: Unlock iPhone 1.1.4
Step 1. Restore iPhone under iTunes by clicking “Restore”
Step 2. Wait for the process to be completed, download iNdependence and run. Click “Activate” to activate and jailbreak the iPhone. DO NOT click “SIM unlock” button. Wait for the process to be completed.

Step 3. Then, click “SSH” tab, choose to install SSH. Follow the steps on screen.
Step 4. In the iPhone, choose to connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot in the “Settings”. Check for the IP address by pressing “Arrow”.
Step 5. Use Fugu, type in the IP address of iPhone. “root” as user name, “alpine” as the password.
Step 6. Now, we are gonna to unlock iPhone 1.1.4. Download and extract this unlock pack, upload it to iPhone’s “/usr/unlock” folder. (create a folder “unlock”)
Step 7. Open up Terminal. (Can be found in Mac OS X’s Applications >> Utilities) SSH into your iPhone by typing “ssh root@192.168.0.2″ (which 192.168.0.2 is the IP address of iPhone), type in “root” for username, “alpine” as password. Then, the following commands,
launchctl remove com.apple.CommCenter
cd /usr/unlock
chmod +x ./114unlock
./114unlock secpack ICE04.04.05_G.fls
Step 8. Then unlock will now started. It looks like hangs at first, but you must be patient and wait for the process to be completed. When you saw “1.1.4 unlocked”, you can restart the iPhone.

Step 9. Download the Installer 3.0 Final at here, and use Fugu to login to your iPhone. Upload the downloaded Installer.app to iPhone’s “/Applications” folder. Restart the iPhone.
Step 10.Restart the iPhone and run Installer, you may face “Main script execution failed”. So, use Terminal to SSH into your Mac, and type (remember to press “Enter” after each line),
cd /Applications
chmod +s Installer.app/Installer
chown -R root: Installer.app

Step 11. You should now see the Installer icon on iPhone’s springboard. Run it and install “BSD Subsystem” and also the “Community Sources”
Stage 2: Fix iPhone’s out of space error
Step 12. Perform the move applications step by SSH into your iPhone and type (remember to press enter after each line),
cd /
cp -pr Applications /var/mobile
mv Applications Applications.old
ln -s private/var/mobile/Applications /Applications
cd /
ls -la
Step 13. Type the following when you saw the above screen. (note the yellow highlighted line),
cd /
rm -rf Applications.old
Step 14. Restart the iPhone. Now, you can install the stuff you want using Installer. Enjoy 1.1.4 iPhone.

deejay,
You need to install BSD Subsystem in the Installer first.
It has been stated in this guide already.

Do you mean you didn’t see any asterisk while you are typing? This is normal.
