    (for windows and mac)

iPhone or iPod Touch’s Safari now not only can browse the internet, but also download the files. After installing this plugin, some types of files can be downloaded to iPhone’s “/var/root/Media/Download” folder. We assumed you already know how to jailbreak, unlock and install SSH in your iPhone. (read the ultimate guide page if you don’t) Here is how:

Step 1. Download the plugin here. Login to your iPhone using WinSCP (Windows) or Fugu (Mac).

Step 2. Under iPhone’s “/var/root” folder, create a new folder “Downloads”.

Step 3. Upload the plugin we downloaded to iPhone’s “/System/Library/Internet Plug-Ins” folder. Make sure you set the attribute with 755. (right click the file to do so.) Restart your iPhone now.

    Below is optional:

Step 4. Download this special edition of SendFile program based on TUAW.com, upload it to iPhone’s “/Applications” folder. Restart your iPhone again.

Step 5. You will see the “SendDFile” on the main springboard. This can help to email or share the file you downloaded to iPhone.

Now, when you browse the web site and click on the link that can be downloaded, it will show you the big green button like below. Click download to start to download and it will show you the % during the process.

Hi, First at all let me wish you a very happy new year.

I tried to upload the pluging to the “/System/Library/Internet Plug-Ins” folder however when I copy the files, they appear with 0 bytes. If I copy the files to another directory like var/root/Download, they have the right size. Any help here?

      cgomez,

Check your download to see whether it is at the size around 40KB. If you are not, try to redownload the files and see. It should not be 0 bytes.

And happy new year to all readers!

      ng_lee,

Have you install openSSH from Installer.app?
