(Nate True’s Method) From any version to iPhone 1.1.3 unlocked and jailbroken

    (for mac only)

The “1.1.3 soft update” suddenly removed from Installer.app. Hence this guide will not work anymore. Sorry. Please take a look of this iPhone Dev Team jailbreak guide.

    113jbandunlock.png

This guide will NOT work for newly bought U.S. iPhone (4.6 Bootloader) and UK iPhone. (OTB iPhone 1.1.2 or higher) It will only work for iPhone with bootloader 3.9 (that is out of the box iPhone 1.1.1 or lower).

I uses Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.1 and iTunes 7.6.

Backup everything in case something goes wrong. You are taking your own risk to jailbreak your iPhone. If you are not really sure how to do it, stop now. There is no one responsible but only you, if the iPhone bricks.

Note this guide only soft-upgrades your iPhone to 1.1.3, which means the baseband remains at 04.02.13_G (which is from 1.1.2) and NOT upgraded to 04.03.13_G.

Skip the steps where necessary. For example, if you are having the unlocked 1.1.1, you can start from step 12.

Stage 1: Having an iPhone 1.1.2

Step 1. Download 1.1.1 firmware first. Open iTunes, hold “Alt/Option” Key and then click “Update” or “Restore”. Select the downloaded firmware when prompted. If you’re having accidentally upgraded iPhone with 1.1.3, click here to put your iPhone to DFU mode first.

Step 2. After restoring to 1.1.1, it will shows you error 1015. It is normal. Click okay now.

Step 3. Slide to make emergency call. Press “*#307#”. It will start ringing.

Step 4. Clear all the numbers by pressing “x”. Enter “0″, press “call”, than press “answer”.

Step 5. Press “Hold”, than it will ring again. Press “Decline”. It will show you the contact list.

Press Hold first. Than press decline when it rings again.

Step 6. Add a new contact. Choose to “add new URL”. Enter “prefs:”. Add one more home url, this time enter “jailbreakme.com”. Save all the informations.

    jailbreakme

Step 7. Click the “home page”, it will pop up the settings now. Connect to the Wi-Fi connections that you wish for. (same IP range with notebook computer. how to do it? Just make sure iPhone and notebook are connected with same Wi-Fi AP station.). Also, make sure it will not go to sleep mode by going into General > Auto Lock > Never.

Step 8.Press home button to go back to the “activate iPhone” screen. Slide for emergency, and press “0″ to call. Answer the call than hold the call. It will ring again. Than, press decline and you will go back to contact list.

Step 9. Select the contact we created in Step 4. This time, press the home that is “http://jailbreakme.com” to let the Safari open it. Scroll down and choose to install the AppSnapp.

    jailbreakme02.png

Step 10. Your Safari will crash and go back to the “Activate iPhone” screen. Do not touch the iPhone or any other buttons now.

Step 11. It will restart itself. If it is not for more than 10 minutes, repeat the steps from Step 6-8. If you see a blue dot, restore your iPhone completely with 1.1.1 firmware.

Step 12. There will be a Installer.app in your springboard. Click the Installer.app, update everything requested. Install “Oktoprep” from “Tweaks (1.1.1)” category.

Step 13. If your iPhone is accidentally upgraded to 1.1.3, or previously unlocked with very old anySIM 1.0.2, proceed from step 13 - 15. You need to add “i.unlock.no” in Installer.app sources. If not, just go to step 16.

Step 14. Refresh the sources, then click “Install” tab. Install “BSD Subsystem” (find it in All pacakages.) Then, you should able to see “Unlocking Tools” category. Click “Baseband Downgrader”. Install it.

    bbdown02.png

Step 15. Check whether your baseband is downgraded to 03.14.08_G. If yes, your iPhone is now virgin. Restart it now.

    Stage 2: Unlock iPhone 1.1.2

Step 16. Starting from virgin state, now upgrade your iPhone through iTunes by holding “Alt/Option” key, select the iPhone 1.1.2 firmware to upgrade to 1.1.2.

Step 17. After it is upgraded, close iTunes. Using the 1.1.2 jailbreak tool which can be downloaded here. Check “Install SSH” and remember the password. Click “jailbreak” to jailbreak it now.

Step 18. When it said everything is done, and your iPhone will reboot itself. If it is not, run iNdependence. Don’t touch any button in iNdependence, and your iPhone will restart automatically. (may reboot twice)

Step 19.Wait until you can go to springboard. You will see the “Installer.app” again. Click the “Installer”, install the “anySIM 1.2.1u” first
Step 20. Put your iPhone in airplane mode, run the anySIM 1.2.1u.

Step 21. After the unlock is done, restart the iPhone. Click the “Installer”, to install “iWorld”.

Step 22. Run iWorld and select your country to fix the problem.

If you only want iPhone 1.1.2, stops here now. If you want 1.1.3, go to next step.

    Stage 3: Upgrade to 1.1.3

Make sure you set “Auto Lock” to never in “settings”

Step 23. Downgrade this pack. Run it and there will be a new mounted disk.

Step 24. Run the “Run_This” binary file, you should be prompted to connect your iPhone with computer.

Step 25. It will check at first. If everything is fine, press Enter. Then it will do some stuff and will asks you to connect iPhone with computer. Okay. So press Enter again to let it do the job.

    113jbg03a.png

Step 26. Once it tells you it is done, open the Installer.app from iPhone. Click “Sources” Tab and refresh, click “Install” tab and see whether “1.1.3 soft upgrade” package is there or not. If not, restart your iPhone and refresh the Installer.app sources may help.

    113jbg08.png

Step 27. When you are installing “1.1.3 soft upgrade” package from Installer.app, it appears to be hang with spinning circle. And Installer may crash. Just wait and be patient until it restarts.

Step 28. It will automatically restarted. And you should now have an unlocked 1.1.3 iPhone.

After you have unlocked 1.1.3 iPhone, you may have some problems. Take a look of 10 fixes for 1.1.3 soft-updated iPhone here.

I have an OTB 112 BootLoad 4.6 iPhone successfully Activated-Jailbroken-Unlocked with Hardware Unlock following the Hackint0sh method… Can i use this guide to upgrade to 1.1.3 without affecting my unlocked iphone?

Thanks for your guide, it helped a lot.

      moimart,

No. Definitely no. This guide will not work for iPhone with bootloader 4.6

    • 4. admin replies at 26th January 2008, 4:09 am :

      JoseIm,

start from step 12. I am not sure whether your bootloader is 3.9 or 4.6. If your bootloader is 4.6 (otb 1.1.2 or higher), when you upgraded to 1.1.3, your iphone is locked. So try it at your own risk

You forget adding the step when we have to upgrade 1.1.3 in itunes.

At what moment should we do this?

    • 7. admin replies at 26th January 2008, 4:42 am :

      Carlos,

There is NO NEED to upgrade 1.1.3 before. Just start from Step 23.

1.1.3, needed to reinstall bosstool to relocate applications again to get them bach on my fresh springboard.

testing the features, the new drag and drop icons works a charm, can’t seem to hide demo.app and contacts.app…
customize working, for quite all features and even more than i had before.
1.1.3 solved a bug i had on 1.1.2 not letting me modify localization to french…

BUT, my safari looks like the old one. It should have the new bookmark system (button on middle of the bottom bar) instead it is all like the old one.

      Anyone, help?

If you followed the instruction and do not update to 1.1.3 through iTunes, you will NOT be updated to bootloader 4.6.

Of course, you need to make sure your iPhone is with bootloader 3.9.

if u just upgraded from an older firmware u will need to dowload “the virginizer” under unlocking tools in the http://i.unlock.no source..when the process finishes u will have to go through all the restore and jailbreak thing again and THEN anysim will work!

Just thought I would let you folk know that after 5 hours I seem to have succeeded in 1.1.1 -> 1.1.2

the trick was that at the end of jail breaking it would freeze in restore mode… (itune icon with cable image)

the solution was to run AppTap installer (1.0.2) which fails but sends the phone back to normal mode !

      good luck
