How to downgrade 1.1.4 baseband to 1.0.2 baseband
(mac only)
[OBSOLETE. DO NOT FOLLOW]

This guide will only work for old iPhone with bootloader 3.9. (that is out of the box iPhone 1.1.1 or lower) The out of the box iPhone 1.1.2, 1.1.3 and refurbished iPhone should have bootloader 4.6 which is not applicable. If you want to software unlock bootloader 4.6, take a look of the news here.
This guide is tested under iTunes 7.6.1 with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2.
Perpartion:
Download iPhone firmware 1.0.2, iNdependence 1.4 beta 5 here.
Stage 1: Downgrade to 1.0.2 to virgin it
Step 1. Put your iPhone in DFU Mode. You may use iNdependence to choose to enter “DFU mode”
Step 2. Press Option + Restore, choose the 1.0.2 firmware to downgrade. After the process is completed, it will tell you error 1013. Ignore it.
Step 3. Change the iPhone 1.0.2 firmware file name with .zip extension. Right-click and use Archive Helper to extract it.
Step 4. Activate and Install SSH using iNdependence. You need to choose the file extracted in Step 3.
Step 5. Open Fugu and connect it to iPhone. Type in the IP address connected, and root as the username, dottie as the password when asked.
Step 6. Extract and upload this 1.1.4 downgrade pack to iPhone’s “/usr/bin”. Open Terminal now and type “ssh root@192.168.0.123″. (192.168.0.123 is your iPhone’s IP address). Type in “root” as username, “alpine” as the password when prompted.
Step 8. From Terminal, type the following command. Remember to press Enter for execution after each line.
launchctl remove com.apple.CommCenter
cd /usr/bin
ieraser
bbupdater -v
bbupdater -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls
bbupdater -v
Step 9. You should now see the iPhone’s baseband is 03.14.08_G which is correct for iPhone 1.0.2.
The baseband is now downgraded, and the iPhone is reversed to locked state.

16. admin replies at 24th January 2008, 12:11 am :
Jay,
If you are using iTunes 7.6, it is NOT easy to put it in DFU mode. So, for me, I use iTunes 7.5 in Windows to help me. If you would like to, you can downgrade your iTunes using oldapps.com guide

Okay folks.. I wasn’t patient enough to wait for answers, so i went to this site i wrote under there and tried to do step 7 there, and it worked.. A bit more complicated though.. (It’s for Windows, so you have to think a bit..)
My History:
OTB 1.1.1, very happy when i made it work 100%.
Wanted to upgrade to the 1.1.2. Read a guide about how to do that, so I did exactly what it said, and then I was supposed to press upgrade in iTunes, so i did, but i didn’t know or notice that 1.1.3 had come out the day before, so that was how my iPhone 1.1.1 3,9BL OTB became 1.1.3 iNothing..
NB! I think it is smart to read the whole post before you try to do something, so you won’t miss anything. I will write all the problems i had with this downgrading, and my solutions, and I hope it will help you guys;)

I’ve got normal baseband and shit now.. Try to combine this beautiful site and the one i wrote above. It worked for me.
Some tips:
When I downgraded from 1.1.3 to 1.0.2, I got the same message somebody told us about here..
When it was done, it said first Error 1013, as expected, but when i pressed OK, a new message popped up, telling me that the iPhone that was found, still were in restore mode or what the hell it is on English(My iTunes is on Norwegian).
I didn’t understand shit, so i tried it again and again.. Still on restore mode or recovery mode or wtf.. DFU shit..
This is what i did to make it work: When i started the downgrading to 1.0.2, iNdependence was turned off.
The downgrading completed, and then it said Error 1013, and i did NOT press okay. I looked at my iPhone, and saw this ugly yellow 1.0.2 sign like before. If you press “OK” on Error 1013 now, then iTunes will detect your iPhone as DFU, but if you open iNdependence when you have the 1013 on screen, then iNdependence will try to connect to the iPhone. At first nothing happened to me, so i panicked and started to push the Power-button and Home button some times totally random, and then i pressed “OK” on 1013, and then pushed Home and Power some more just for fun, and suddenly the Activation Screen showed up on the iPhone.. I doubt the pushing on the buttons helped anything, but that was what I did. And I did it twice.. Cause the first time i fucked up with baseband etc.
I also had some problems with iNdependence when i was going to activate, cause it said something about “problem with entering recovery mode”.. Just quit and restart iNdependence and it will work. If that not work, try to restart the Mac.
I was finally done with a complete 1.0.2, and found out that i should upgrade to 1.1.1, so i did that.. Not the way it says here, bt just as easy as downloading the 1.1.1.ipsw, and upgrade to that.. Just forgot to do it the way it said here, so i don’t know if that works(i bet i does), but my method works. Just doing the 1.1.1 unlock. Very easy.
Now I can make and get calls, send sms, use Installer.app etc.
So.. If there is anything you want to ask me, mail me at Stiian@mac.com. I will probably not enter this site again ever, but I will help you if you contact me.
Thanks to Admin who has helped us so much with this.. You saved my life!(iPhone)
I don’t know if this post is to any help to anyone, but again.. I am a newbie to Mac and all that, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one..
Stii

24. NeO replies at 29th January 2008, 2:18 am :
For error (1) - the solution is to make it in DFU mode using iBrick. and after that with iBrick opened, use iTunes to SHIFT +Restore what you want.
For me was 2 days of trying till I found out that. After that you get 1015 error

Hi,
i did everything you told me and im at Step 8. Unfortunatly i have 04.02.13_G and not 04.03.13_G… what should i do now?
27. Eugene replies at 1st February 2008, 11:44 am :
To put it into DFU mode on a Mac keep your phone and and plugged in. While its on and plugged in press and hold the power and home buttons for about 10 seconds as the screen turns black. When it turns black let go of the power button and keep holding the home button until iTunes tells you your iPhone is in recovery mode. There wont be anything on your screen because it will be in DFU mode. Enjoy!

29. admin replies at 5th February 2008, 9:28 am :
Rob Alex,
there is no iNdependence tool in Windows. But you can take a look:
http://www.winandmac.com/mobile/iphone/win-dev-team-method-from-any-version-to-iphone-113-unlocked-and-jailbroken/
It helps you to upgrade the iPhone to 1.1.3

Incredible… I had messed up my iphone by downloading some crap onto to it… I followed the steps, and I was able to downgrade my iphone back to 1.1.1.
What’s really interesting about this whole thing is that after I did the jailbreak (2nd time using the *#307# method). I didn’t have to install AnySIM or anything like that… It turns out that the phone was able to utilize any sim which I find interesting.
Anyway… GREAT WORK GUYS… Keep it up!
33. nacho replies at 7th February 2008, 12:23 am :
Could you please explain a bit deeper the step #7. How can I extract and upload the .zip file to that location on the iPhone? Is this through the Mac or directly downloaded to the iPhone using the wi-fi?
I’d appreciate any help. Thks
34. fabiano replies at 7th February 2008, 2:40 am :
tnks for the info. I managed to get all the steps in place but when i want to overwrite te .eep and the .fls files i get this error at the bottom:
Error: Failed to download .EEP: Could not verify downloaded image.
this means that i cant downgrade the device? or i am doing something wrong?
what do you recomend me to do to fix this?
Thanks
35. Eugene replies at 7th February 2008, 12:06 pm :
Yup, I tried this too. It told me its unlocked when anysim was finished in 1.1.1 and then it tells me that my sim is unapproved and cannot be used.

I accidentally upgraded to 1.1.3 w/ iTunes. Now I can’t get my iphone to DFU mode. In fact, iTunes 7.4 doesn’t recognize it anymore and prompt a message to connect to iTunes 7.5 or higher. Is there any alternatives to command the iPhone into DFU mode without pressing together power and home button? Because mine doesn’t seem to work anymore.
42. janlastwk113 replies at 10th February 2008, 12:04 am :
does anyone know if 1.1.3 (bl 4.6) can be downgraded to 1.1.1 and be used with a valid at&t sim (sim of course is not with iphone plan). will i still lose the phone functionality?
if it is possible pls give me some websites
thx
43. Dave replies at 10th February 2008, 4:11 am :
Genius!! Got up to 1.1.3 firmware a few days back but that was still using the 1.1.2 baseband. I foolishly tried updating the baseband to 1.1.3 this morning and AnySIM 1.3 crapped out my iPhone.
Thanks to this guide I have gone back down to 1.0.2 then up to 1.1.3 with 1.1.2 baseband, I will be waiting for a better AnySIM update to come out before upgrading the baseband anytime soon. But thanks this was a lifesaver. I thought my iPhone was well and truly a screwed for a good hour before I found this.
