Facebook photos can’t be permanentely removed even you have “deleted” them

Ars have done a very interesting experiment recently. They have deleted some photos from Flickr, Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. And see if they are still there after 6 weeks. Twitter and Flickr photos are really gone. But, photos are still there and accessible to public at Facebook and MySpace. (Since it is reported by Ars, it may be removed very soon by Facebook and MySpace).

The main reason why those photos are not permanently removed could probably because of the backup copies. If you have those crazy photos, don’t upload it in the first place. “deleted” photos are not really deleted.

According to the new survey: iPhone 3G 8GB is no.1 in Japan

Wired wrote a false report about Japanese hate the iPhone in March, the truth is revealed by AppleInsider later on. There are lots of survey proved that Japanese love the iPhone. Here is another one: A new survey by market research company BCN revealed that iPhone 3G 8GB is the number 1 smartphone in Japan, followed by iPhone 3G 16GB is the number 2. NTT CoCoMo Aquos SH-04A is the number 3.

The smartphone sales goes by 80% in a year, and the non-smartphone sales is dropping. Survey said over 1 million iPhone 3G is sold in Japan. Will the new iPhone 3GS becomes another hit in Japan?

Microsoft and Linux would not fight with each other on Twitter. After Linux started the tweet to welcome Microsoft to Twitter, Microsoft responded nicely. Can’t believe they act like old friends meeting each other. Note Microsoft has just started tweeting 3 days ago. I would also like to say, “Welcome to the hit social network, Microsoft!”

Solve overheat problem? Use redsnow 0.72 to jailbreak is better than using the first redsnow 0.7

I was so happy to know that redsnow, the iPhone firmware 3.0 jailbreak tool, was released. I go to iPhone Dev Team site and quickly download it. It was redsnow 0.7, the very first version. I didn’t notice there is an updated version0.72. My iPhone 3G 3.0 experience the heat problem after jailbreaking. It turns pretty after using it for a long time. My friends told me it is a bug of redsnow 0.7.

I restore my iPhone 3G yesterday, and jailbreak with the newest redsnow 0.72. It seems the overheat problem is gone. iPhone becomes more stable now. If you have similar problem, try to restore the iPhone and use the latest redsnow 0.72. It may help to solve the problem.

Bing now supports searching Twitter’s most updated tweets

Microsoft Bing is adding the “Twitter factor”. You can now search Twitter users’ tweet by simply typing their user names. Just type the “Twitter” in front of the name, Bing will show you the most updated tweets. Try the search of Ryan Seacrest Tweets at here. You will figure out Bing can show you the recent tweets. Note it only works for some Twitter user accounts only. Bing will continue to index more Tweets in the future.

It’s time to make money: Twitter ads appears

Twitter is growing quickly, but the big question is how to make money. The simple way is to put ads on it. Recently, there are at least 2 new ads appeared. They are Federated Media’s Microsoft microsite ExecTweets.com and Universal Studios’ CinemaTweets.com. It’s not clear how much would it costs to put ads on Twitter. It’s definitely a good start. Twitter needs to be profitable in long term. I think most users don’t mind.

Rumor smashed? NVIDIA will still work with Apple

Several rumors said Apple is going to drop NVIDIA. NVIDIA graphic chips are currently used in Apple’s Mac. Closed source of NVIDIA said the relationship with Apple is fine. Apple is still buying the NVIDIA graphic chips and chipsets. Nothing is changed. Your new Mac will still be cool.

Windows 7 RTM is coming soon on 13th July

A closed source from Microsoft has confirmed Windows 7 RTM will be there on 13th July. It will be the Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC). As usual, TechNet, MSDN and other partner connections will be able to get the RTM shortly after the WPC09. Source also said Microsoft will keep on solving bugs. No one wants the “Vista tragedy” happens again.
