Even you have the latest iPhone 3G, default YouTube application only download the low quality video version that is almost unwatchable. There is no options to change it. You can only watch high quality video with Wi-Fi.
To watch high quality video, we had MxTube in old firmware 1.1.4. MxTube is now updated to 1.5a and supports the latest firmware 2.0. You can now watch high quality YouTube video over the 3G data (or EDGE).
More after the break.

Cuil is made by ex-Google employees. Will Cuil beat Google? May be not, at least for now. The Cuil search engine is too new and shows you a lot of hilarious results. When you search Eric Schmidt on Cuil, you will be able to see Steve Ballmer. According to Cuil, Steve Ballmer Eric Schmidt is the member of the board of directors of Apple. A big news.

1% unlucky users lost their email on MobileMe. Apple has fixed it now, finally. They said it over their MobileMe Status page. They also said that the sync bug for calendar and contact data has also been fixed. MobileMe should now sync all the data over the air now. Well. I hope there won’t be any similar things happen.

Units Converter is the tool available in iPhone App Store. It is not free anymore and it needs US$0.99. If you have installed it while it is free and then press the App Store icon on iPhone today, you probably notice there is an update. But, the App Store does not shows you clearly whether it will charge you $0.99 for the update.
I have downloaded the update through App Store on iPhone directly. My iTunes account does not shows whether it have charged me or not. Since the app is now the top paid app, I think probably it charged me already.
Since there is a lot of free web apps to change units, I will download the app for free but not for the money. It’s a pity that App Store does not tell me clearly it needs to pay for the update. (I hope I am wrong for this) What if all other freeware apps suddenly becomes paid apps, then charge me a thousand dollars?
Be warned. Do not update the software on iPhone’s App Store directly. Update it on iTunes.

People love to customize their iPhone with style. Customize is the tool to change the theme and outlook of iPhone completely. It works well in 1.1.4. And now we have the updated version that works with firmware 2.0. It is now available through Cydia (the Installer.app alternative). That means you need to jailbreak the iPhone before using it.
Unfortunately, the new version needs to connect with the server to make it work. Everytime I start the software, I receive the above message. Then, the program hangs. Looks like Customize thinks that 3G connection still not fast enough.

For the US edition of Microsoft Live Search, there is a big background picture in the main page. Move the mouse near the people, and you will be able to read some interesting information. It may be a gimmick but definitely makes it “different”. You won’t find a great picture in Google, right? But, what are users preference? Do they need to know those interesting information? Or, are they just want to search the thing they want?

The famous password keeping software 1Password decided to be freeware for a limited time. And today, I found another password keeping software called Password Vault. It is also a freeware.
Password Vault is pretty simple. They said they won’t send the information online. It keeps safely in iPhone. After you set the master password, you can add new information. There is no category, icons, or fields editing available. You can just simply enter the name and password of it. One thing I don’t like is that the software do not have auto lock feature.

Remember the lovely YouTube downloader on iPhone? It’s MxTube, which can download and save the EDGE or high quality YouTube video right on the iPhone. No encoding is required. It will be saved on iPhone’s disk. You can watch the video wherever you want.
The MxTube will support firmware 2.0 in the near future. It will be available not in the AppStore, but the Cydia. That means you need to jailbreak your iPhone first. It should work on both iPhone 2G and 3G. Above is the preview of the program, it will support stream download.
Developer wants to release it this week. But, unfortunately, is have got some problem. The program hangs while downloading. Developer said he won’t be able to develop the program for a week. That means the MxTube release day will be delayed. It’s still unclear the exact day to be released. We still need to watch the low quality YouTube on iPhone first.
