Comcast is trying to control the Internet traffic. And people are trying to stop it by Internet debate. They hold a debate for public hearing in Boston on the future of the Internet. But, sorry, Comcast is also trying to stop people to participate this debate. And FCC cannot know your opinion because Comcast controlled it. As Save the Internet blog writes, they found that all of the people in the debate is paid by Comcast, which other real Internet users cannot go into the debate. That means no one hears the true opinion about the future of the Internet.
Save the Internet blog argues FCC should know,
“The size of the crowd is evidence that many Americans don’t want giant corporations like Comcast and Verzion to decide what we can do and where we can go on the Internet.”
Suck it. Comcast.
People, please support Save the Internet.

This video is not awesome but really funny to look at the reaction of these guys. TravTay runs the iPhone stopwatch program (which is from Clock.app) and see what happen after 999 hours. Result: the iPhone stopwatch program only supports 1,000 hours in the end. And TravTay feels excited. I don’t know why it is so excited, actually…

Say goodbye to Yahoo! Opera Mobile and Opera Mini will soon change its default search engine from Yahoo! to Google. Opera announced this news on their site and said Opera has established relationship with Google for years. ReadWriteWeb has a detailed analyze on the effect about Yahoo! losing the partnership with Opera. And since mobile internet is coming to our life and becomes popular this year, I agreed Yahoo! have a big lost for this. Note Opera Mobile and Mini is a popular browser which is pre-installed in many mobile devices.

Although Digg have same stories but different sites problem, it is a good social news website. Digg currently available in English, and it should have localized versions to different countries. Take a look of YouTube, they have different languages available to choose from the site. Localized versions can help Digg to spread all over the world. If you are from other countries, it is no doubt to love the site to work in your language.

Apparently, there are several big blogs submit same stories to Digg. That’s why you can see 4 entries about new MacBook and MacBook Pro on Digg. It’s all about same stories but different sites. Digg has a check about duplicated stories on submittion, but users didn’t care about it and still submit it. Mixx.com, Digg’s competitor, do it in a better way. They have recently added a new feature called “related content”.
If you submit similar or duplicated, you will see the above picture. You can choose whether the story is an update, different aspect or same story but different sites. Let’s hope the whole community will make it work well and we will not see this kind of situation anymore.

Or I should say, “Geohotz unlock survives after the upgrade”. hackint0sh user s666 found the way to unlock iPhone 1.1.4 with IPSF style unlock by Geohot. It is complicated and you need to download many tools to do so. You also need some skill for typing commands. Note there is someone in hackint0sh bricks his iPhone after using IPSF style unlock. Noted IPSF style unlock is not easy to reverse. So be warned. Don’t update until a new version of anySIM comes out. And, again, don’t blame anyone if you brick your iPhone.

It’s official. Apple has sent the invitation to media for the iPhone SDK event on March 6. Apple is late for sure since they said there would be SDK by the end of February. FORTUNE noted there will be “exciting new enterprise features” in the event. It may be focused to enhance the enterprise features which Windows Mobile and RIM Blackberry already have, but which iPhone lacks.
Will Apple use Installer.app for installing software anyway?

Now, iPhone firmware 1.1.4 is released. It may be unlocked with IPSF unlock by Geohot, but you may also brick the iPhone after upgrade to 1.1.4. iNdependence has just updated and provide support for iPhone firmware 1.1.4. Notice this new version only supports for jailbreak and activation, you cannot SIM-unlock 1.1.4 with iNdependence now. That means unless you have official carrier, you won’t be able to use the phone function after upgrade to firmware 1.1.4. (while downgrade will not help cause baseband can’t be downgraded now) iNdependence now supports unlock of 1.1.4, but they use gunlock. That would be in IPSF style which is not easy to reverse.
Meanwhile, another iPhone tool, iJailBreak, has announced they will release a new software that supports the newest firmware 1.1.4.
You may have watched those “Get a mac” ads on Apple. And there’s a lot of parody video on YouTube and other video sites. Let’s take a look of this video. It comes with South Park style and a new character, Linux. It said Linux can’t do anything but only system services. It seems to be not so accurate since Linux can play movie and games, although they are not as good as Windows.

Beware all the jailbreakers, iPhone/iPod Touch just have a new 1.1.4 firmware upgrade. For those who unlock or jailbreak to install unofficial softwares, please be warned and not to update. As a writer of iPhone Ultimate Guides, I am here to say all of the readers please do not perform any update or unlock until everything is cleared.
TUAW has tested the new firmware update, and ZiPhone works with 1.1.4. NOTED ZiPhone can only jailbreak the iPhone, but NOT TO ACTIVATE AND UNLOCK IT under 1.1.4. You will not be able to use the iPhone unless you are on the official iPhone carrier (i.e. AT&T, Orange France, etc) Don’t upgrade. (ZiPhone developer also recommends all the users not to upgrade.)
I am now trying to research and test, to find out the new stuff about this new firmware. Again, hold on and beware. I do not recommend to unlock and jailbreak now, as you may accidentally upgrade to 1.1.4.
