RealPlayer includes a converter in the newly released beta for Mac

No comments » February 9th, 2010 - 9:58 am

RealPlayer for Mac is not that great when comparing it with the VLC. I only use it for playing the RMVB. Anyway, they have released a new beta of RealPlayer SP for Mac at here. It comes with a special converter which you can convert most of the files to any device you want. There are many preset profiles in the RealPlayer Converter. I have tried to convert it to my Nexus One but the weird thing is that the resolution becomes so small. Come on. My Nexus One has a great screen with 800 x 480 resolution.

Apple worries developers are not happy about iPhone app developing

No comments » February 9th, 2010 - 8:49 am

With the growing potential of Google Android, more developers are willing to try to develop some apps for it. Apple now worries developers are not happy and asks them to do a survey. The survey questions include “Please rate your level of satisfaction with each of the following aspects of the Application submission process (using iTunes Connect).”. You can choose the answers include, “Very dissatisfied,” “Somewhat dissatisfied,” “Neither satisfied nor dissatisfied,” “Somewhat satisfied,” “Very satisfied,” or “Don’t know.”

The fight between the Apple review process and the developers didn’t stop. Recently, Apple wants a developer to stop using “Android” in the app descriptions. Some developers feel sick about it and switched to other smartphone platforms development. Stop the closed culture, Apple.

Google wants the fake Google in China to stop using the logo

No comments » February 9th, 2010 - 8:06 am

Google said they want to leave China completely and some people in China has created Goojje after the announcement. Goojje looks like Google but uses the local information with filtered content. The search engine of Goojje is powered by Baidu which is the local search engine company in China. The problem of Goojje is the logo. It looks very similar to the real Google. Google don’t feel happy about it, and warned Goojje to stop using that logo.

Google said Goojje has infringed the trademark rights. Goojje needs to remove the logo by Monday. But, currently the Goojje still uses the old logo. The worst part is that local news has interviewed the local student and said Goojje is a great business and “innovative”. It has also interviewed a local lawyer and he think Goojje has not infringed the trademark rights.

According to the survey: No one is interested about the iPad

No comments » February 9th, 2010 - 7:55 am

Will Apple iPad end up like the Apple TV? May be, according to the survey by Retrevo. They said people were interested before the Apple announcement, but the numbers quickly dropped after the event. It’s 26% to 52%. More people said they don’t need the iPad after the event. Retrevo results show the percentage has raised from 49% to 61%. It is also ridiculous that people need to pay the extra 3G plan if they are already using the iPhone 3GS unlimited plan. Apple didn’t think they should let the iPad to go online with the help of the iPhone Internet Sharing.

Use Twitter to make some popcorn

No comments » February 9th, 2010 - 7:17 am

Dave Britt and Justin Goeres was making this special popcorn machine for the contest by Fireworks Popcorn. This machine will make popcorn whenever some people tweets #popcorn on the internet. It seems meaningless but funny to make popcorn with Twitter. I hope the machine is now off or otherwise they can’t eat them all.

New Pwnage Tool is released for firmware 3.1.3 but only works for specific iPhones

No comments » February 8th, 2010 - 8:10 pm

The new PwnageTool 3.15 by iPhone Dev Team is here. It is supposed to be used to create custom firmware 3.1.3, but it will only work with specific iPhones. Only the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 1G, 2G with early bootrom can use the tool. For the iPhone 3GS with early bootrom, it should be at firmware 3.1.2 and restore with the custom firmware 3.1.3. If it has upgraded to firmware 3.1.3, it won’t work.

iPhone Dev Team has also warned this firmware update is not necessary, stay at 3.1.2 if it is possible.

Apple don’t want the developers to use “Android” in the app descriptions?

No comments » February 8th, 2010 - 12:25 pm

A developer has used “Finalist in Google’s Android Developer’s Challenge!” as the description and Apple thinks it’s not relevant. Apple wants the developer to remove such descriptions. It seems that Apple don’t want the people to use “Google Android” in any circumstances in the App Store. Although we can easily search something related to Android in the App Store (like this Android game (US$1.99)), but most of them are not related to Google. This is acceptable that Apple censors the Google Android from the App Store because Google Android phones are going to kill the iPhone. Since the Apple culture is like this, no one can change their mind.
